Indonesia Part 2 - Gili Trawangan - The inseperable three!

inseparable - Marleen, Gwen and Fabio
horse cab
Let´s go to Gili! The mini bus picked us up at 7 am at our homestay in Ubud. We drove to the pier where we had to wait for another hour. After 1,5 hours on the fast boat we finally arrived on Gili Tranwangan. Gili Trawangan is the biggest of the three islands. Just a dream, the beach, the torquise water – we were in paradise!! Actually this is the party island, supposedly loud and busy, but not at all, maybe because it is still low season?!

We went to our homestay. After we found our place we started to explore the island. Everything is easy to find and reach by foot or by bicycle. There are no cars or motor bikes on the islands, only bicycles and horse cabs! :D Therefore it´s so quite on the island, just chilled out!

Beach
The first night we stayed at Little Woodstock. A small bamboo hut, with a fan and basic bathroom with cold water! A really cosy place, but Marleen wouldn’t stay there. Just a fan and cold water? And all the mosqitos?? On the next day we looked for another homestay. We got a really good price. A room with A/C, hot water shower and small breakfast and not far away from the beach! :)

Gwen arrived during noon on the island. We were happy to see her again! We spent the day on the beach and ended the day with a cold beer in a bar! :)

reunion
At this time we became inseparable!! :) We spent every day together. Either we rented a bicycle to explore the island or spent the day on our beach. We had a really good time!

For lunch we would mostly go to a small bar or restaurant and for dinner to the local food market. Fresh Red Snapper for 4 USD with rice and vegetable or just rice with vegetable for 2 – 2,5 USD. For dessert we usually had a biscuit or the best pancake ever – Nutella, peanut butter and banana!!!

Snorkelling Trip
We booked a snorkelling tour including lunch for around 10 USD. We didn´t expect too much for the little money. But we wanted to see some turtles!!! The boat went around all the three islands. We stopped four times for snorkelling. We were very disappointed, all the corals were dead and we didn’t see so many fish! :( BUUT, at our last stop we saw turtles!! Three at the time, that was amazing!!! The made our day! :D unfortunately the battery of our camera was empty, so we couldn’t make any picture at all of the turtles! But WE SAW THEM!!! :)

The lunch was okay. But again they forgot to bring Fabio's meal, everytime the same, they don’t get it! :D

Day trip to Gili Meno
We took the local boat to Gili Meno at 9 am. Meno is the smallest and calmest of the three islands. In the afternoon we took the boat back to Trawangan.

Gili Meno
In the beginning we actually planned to stay one week on Gili and explore Flores the other week. But Trawangan was just a nice place to stay. So we spend almost two weeks here. :) Gwen planned to stay on Gili Air for a few days, but she did the same like us and just enjoyed the time on Trawangan! :)

Last Wednesday we had to say goodbye to Gwen! She had to leave, back to Bali and on Saturday she has to take the flight back to France! :( Since then something is missing - Gwen is missing!! We had a great and wonderful time with you, Gwen! Hopefully, see you back in Europe!! Have a save trip back home!! Big hug – we already miss you so much!! But you are still with us in our minds and we will enjoy for you, too!! ;)

Bye bye Gwen!!
Do you know this game?? Yes, you do?! And you looked??? :D You get a punsh!! HAHA!

By the way, Gwen loves this game!! ;)
