New Zealand – the first 12 days! - english version

The first 1,5 week are over and we already have seen and experienced so much. :)

We started in Auckland. After one day we bought this car – our new home for the next four months. We did a few repairs and off we were! :)

Home sweet home!

Auckland is just a big city like any other city, therefore there are no pictures and there is not much to say about it. After four days we left Auckland heading north. Fabio, Marleen and Mario (The name of our car :) ).

One thing Marleen can tell you, Fabio was really right, New Zealand is just amazing, the nature, the landscapes, just a dream!! Lushes green and fields and cows and sheep on the meadows and the possum, which are sleeping on the roads – at least that’s what Fabio is always  saying, when we see one that is lying very thin on the road.. :/ and the weather is really annoying. The clouds in the sky leave us freezing, long pants and fleece jacket have to be worn. But when the sun is coming out you would like change your clothes in a second! You feel like going for a swim, it´s getting soo hot!! You need the onion look! :D

Aaaand… the movie „Lord of the rings“ could have been shot anywhere here, it just looks everywhere like in the movie, JUST EVERYWHERE!!!!! 

We love New Zealand!!! And we are looking forward to the next four months!!

Waipu Caves – without a torch it´s just black!

Our first stop was at the Waipu Caves . Everybody told us that you need 1 hour to get in and out of the cave, we don’t know, but we finished the trip after 25 minutes - it was just too dark,  narrow, muddy and…! :D After 10 meters in the cave you couldn’t see anything without a torch, not even your own hand in front of your eyes, scary. The only thing you could see was the hundreds of glow worms.

Next stop was Whangarei. We were so lucky, that Marleen had to pee, otherwise we had missed the “Hundertwasser toilets” :D

Of course we didn’t miss the short walk to the Whangarei Falls! :)

Sandy Beach – Freedom camping

Our first experience with freedom camping. No sign that it is forbidden to camp there and there were already other backpackers. We had the beach close to us. After a quite night we used our gas cooker for the first time – we had poridge with fresh fruit!

Cape Reinga – Two days trip to the most northern point of New Zealand

From Paihia we did a two day trip to Cape Reinga. That is the most northern point of the mainland of New Zealand. After a few quick stop on a DOC (Department of Conservation) campground we met this german couple, Madeleine and Benjamin GANDALF :D, our new companions for the next two days. Same Car, same age, all was fine and therefore we enjoyed the days together and shared the fun! :)

We had a stop and stayed the night on the camp site at Rarawa Beach - the whitest beach in New Zealand :) – we drove – NON STOP 105 km – to Cape Reinga.

We arrived at the camp site and packed very fast all the things we needed and started our two our (one way) walk to Cape Reinga. It would be more beautiful if there were no mountains :D Up and down and up and down again and up again, that way backpacking is more than fun! :D but really .. we had fun, eamlike views and at the end we were rewarded by the most northern point! :)

After a quick break and a few pictures we were on our way back to the camp, where a cold shower and delicious pasta waited for us! :) At the end of the day we had a beer with Madeleine and Benny!

Unfortunately we didn´t do any sandboarding or driving along the 90 mile beach because of the bad weather… :/ we will do it next time! ;)

Paihia – our first job in the hostel

A small cute village, not much to do, but enough for hanging around for a while. We will do some trips to Russel and Kerikeri. We will stay here for the next few days, because we got our first job in the hostel for free accommodation!! But we will tell you more in the next post – stay tuned! ;)

Neuseeland – die ersten 12 Tage!

Die ersten 1,5 Wochen in Neuseeland sind um und wir haben bereits sooo viel gesehen und erlebt! :)

Wir starteten in Auckland. Bereits nach einem  Tag haben wir uns ein Auto gekauft – unser neues zu Hause für die nächsten 4 Monate – gekauft! Ein paar Reparaturen wurden gemacht und los ging´s! :) 

 

Auckland ist eine Stadt wie jede andere, daher gibt es hier vorerst keine Bilder und auch nicht viel mehr zu erzählen. Nach vier Tagen sind wir weitergezogen Richtung Norden. Fabio, Marleen und Mario (Der Name unseres Autos :) ).

Eines kann Marleen jetzt schon sagen, Fabio hatte wirklich Recht, Neuseeland ist einfach der Hammer, die Natur, die Landschaften, einfach ein Traum!! Sattes Grün und Felder und Kühe und Schafe auf den Wiesen und die Opossums, die auf der Straße schlafen – das sagt Fabio zu mindestens immer wenn wir eines, ziemlich dünn auf der Straße liegend sehen.. :/ Und das Wetter nervt jetzt schon. Die Wolken am Himmel lassen uns frieren, lange Hose und Fleecejacke sind angesagt. Sobald aber die Sonne rauskommt, möchte man am liebsten schwimmen gehen, so warm wird es! Der Zwiebellook macht jetzt richtig Sinn! :D

Uuuund….Hier könnte einfach überall „Herr der Ringe“ gedreht wurden sein, es sieht einfach alles danach aus, EINFACH ALLES!!!!! 

Wir liebe Neuseeland!!! Und wir freuen uns auf die nächsten four Monate!!

Waipu Caves – ohne Taschenlampe einfach nur schwarz! :D

 

Die Waipu Caves waren unser erstes Ziel auf unserer Liste. Alle haben uns gesagt, das der Walk in die Höhle rein und wieder raus etwa 1 Stunde dauert, warum auch immer, wir waren nach 25 Minuten wieder draußen – es war einfach zu dunkel, eng, matschig und…! :D Nach 10 Metern in der Höhle hat man ohne Taschenlampe nichts mehr sehen können, sogar seine eigene Hand vor Augen nicht, unheimlich. Das einzige was dann noch zu sehen war, waren die hunderten von Glühwürmchen!

Weiter ging´s nach Whangarei. Ein Glück das Marleen auf Klo musste, so haben wir die Hundertwassertoiletten nicht verpasst! :D

Ein kleiner Walk zu den Whangarei Falls durfte natürlich auch nicht fehlen! :)

Sandy Beach – Freedom Camping

Unsere erste Erfahrung mit Freedom Camping. Kein Schild was verbietet, dort zu campen und es waren bereits andere Backpacker da. Wir hatten direkte Strandlage. Nach einer ruhigen Nacht, wurde am nächsten morgen dann unser Gaskocher eingeweiht – Poridge mit frischem Obst!

Cape Reinga – Zwei Tages Trip zum nördlichsten Punkt von Neuseeland 

Von Paihia aus haben wir einen zwei Tages Trip nach Cape Reinga gemacht. Dort befindet sich der nördlichste Punkt des Festlandes von Neuseeland. Nach einem kurzen Zwischenstopp an einem DOC (Department of Conservation) Camp haben wir dann unseren neuen Gefährten Madeleine und Benjamin GANDALF :D aus Deutschland kennengelernt. Gleiches Auto, gleiches Alter, es hat einfach alles gepasst und somit konnten wir die nächsten Tage zusammen mit ihnen genießen und die Freude teilen! :)

Mit Zwischenstopp und Übernachtung am Rarawa Beach – dem weißesten Strand in Neuseeland - ging es weiter – 105 km NON STOP – nach Cape Reinga.

Am Camping Platz angekommen wurden schnell die Rucksäcke gepackt und los ging der 2 Stunden Walk (One Way) los zum Cape Reinga. Es wäre einfach alles viel viel schöner, wenn die vielen Berge nicht wären :D Auf und ab und wieder auf und wieder ab und wieder auf, so macht Wandern richtig Spaß! :D Aber wir hatten wirklich Spaß, traumhafte Aussichten und am Ende wurden wir dann mit dem nördlichsten Punkt belohnt! :)

Nach einer kurzen Pause und ein paar Bilder später ging wieder zurück zum Camp. Dort  wartete eine kalte Dusche und leckere Pasta auf uns! :) Und zu später Stunde wurde noch mit Madeleine und Benny ein Bierchen getrunken!

Leider haben wir wegen des schlechtem Wetters das Sandboarding verpasst und sind auch nicht die 90 Meilen am Strand gefahren… :/ beim nächsten Mal dann! ;)

Paihia – unser erste Job im Hostel

Ein kleines süßes Dörfchen, nicht viel los, aber genug um länger hier zu bleiben.  Von hier aus werden wir noch Ausflüge nach Russel und Kerikeri machen. Hier bleiben wir jetzt aber erstmal für die nächsten Tage, denn wir haben unseren ersten Job im Hostel bekommen für freie Unterkunft  Mehr dazu aber im nächsten Eintrag  - Bleibt also dran! ;)

Melbourne - english version

Let´s go to the next million city Melbourne – our last destination in Australia.

Actually it would have been a 17 hours’ drive by bus, but we had an overnight stop in Batemans Bay, and so we arrived in Melbourne after only 11 hours.

We have been told that the weather in Melbourne is very fluctuating. If you are unlucky or lucky, however you see it, you can have 4 season in one day. Our record was 3 in one day: spring, summer and autumn, we only missed the snow! :D

Although we had bad weather we did the same free guided tour as in Sydney. A big attraction in Melbourne is the graffiti in the backstreets. Furthermore the Victoria State Library and the Federation Square Center.

On that tour we met this guy from Melbourne. He gave us the advice to go to the casino! :) At the Crown Casino you can become a member of the Crown Club not only for free, but you get a 5 dollar voucher for the casino. You can play or not, what you prefer! What did we do? We played!!!! :D After we figured out, how our chances were either: 0, 10 or 20 dollar we put our 10 dollar on red. 50:50 Chance!!!! And we….. Of course LOST!!!! :D however, how goes the german saying?? Unlucky in game, Lucky in love!! ;)

With a heavy heart we said goodbye to our new friends from France, Julie and Vincent. A very nice and lovely couple! We will miss you and we are looking forward to seeing you soon in Germany or France!! :)

The icing on the cake was Marleens shopping spree at the airport. UGG Boots and some Victoria´s Secret panties at a bargain price!! :)

At 2:40pm our flight to Auckland started, we were very excited!!!
