Abel
Tasman Coast Walk
We took the water taxi at 10.30 am. We
started on the road and the tractor carried us across the low tide into the
water.

We arrived in Torrent Bay and walked
over the low tide straight to the Coast walk. At 2 pm we found the right spot for
having lunch, Akerstan Bay, such a beautiful spot, that we felt into an one
hour power nap! :D By the way we did the Coast walk barefoot! :)

Farewell Spit and Wharariki Beach
The
Farewell Spit is a narrow sand spit at the northern end on the south island. It is the longest sandspit in New Zealand, stretching
for about 26 km above sea level and another 6 km underwater. The low
tide, we were told, can get out up to 10 km. Next to the beach were the sand
dunes we walked through. It looks like in the sahara, sand everywhere you look
and it was windy!! It was just amazing! :)

After the Farewell Spit we went to the Wharariki Beach. But see for yourself
what we saw over there: :)

Te Waikoropupū Springs – Purest water in New
Zealand
There also
was a loop track and of course we did it. :) The walk was along the purest
water in New Zealand. The visibility
has an average of 63 metres. Unfortunately you can´t see on the pictures, how
clear the lake actually is, but it´s unbelievable!!!

Pay only for the fish you catch! |
Fishing in Takaka
Fabio
always wanted to catch a fish! And finally the opportunity was there and his
dream came true! :)
Actually
Marleen didn’t want to fish herself, but only watch Fabio, but he persuaded
her! Oh well, and how it usually goes, three throws and fife minutes later
Marleen caught her first very fat fish!! :) Almost 1,8 kilo!! WOOOW!!!
Afterwards Marleen put the rod aside and let Fabio have his turn, because it
was his dream :) 45 minutes later as Fabio hadn’t caught anything, Marleen had
another go. Guess what happened. Three throws and fife minutes later she had
her second fish biting. At least Fabio had the opportunity taking it in. His
dream eventually came true :) The fish had to be killed at once and was smoked
right afterwards. What a feast – yummy. The leftovers we had for dinner and for
the next day’s lunch. In total Marleen caught 2,6 Kg of fish! :)
Abel Tasman 2nd
On our way
to the end of Abel Tasman we picked up some hitchhikers for the first time. Good
decision, we had a great evening! Such nice people! Together we drove to Ligar
Bay. Emilio and Federico had a date with two girls. We had a funny
evening with a great bbq! :)

The guys
pitched up their tents there and we drove to a freedom campground. Actually the
campground is only for self-contained (own toilet in the camper) allowed but we
sneaked in and hid in the last corner behind all the other big camper! :) On
the next day we started at 7 am. Back to the beach where the other guys were.
We had breakfast and everyone went his own way. The girls and Federico went
back to Nelson and Emilio decided to come with us to the Abel Tasman! :) Nice
move, and now there is three of us! :)

Actually
we planned to do a walk, but because of Fabios back, hurting again, we decided
very fast to stay on the beach! We saw starfishes and a large sting ray close
to the beach!! For lunch we had a delicious burger from “The Fat Tui” – if you
go there, you have to try it!!! :)
