Final countdown – Philippines and our 10th country on our list - english version

Dear friends, our time is almost over and here we are in our last country on our list! And that means, that we are almost back home, to see all of you again!!!! :)

Together with Nino our new friend we went to the Philippines.

Background about Nino:
We met Nino first in Malaysia in a bar in Kuala Lumpur three months ago. He was born in the Philippines. We added each other on Facebook to stay in contact. We met for dinner twice. He said, if we will ever go to the Philippines we should let him know, because he would probably come with us – and he did!! :)

Arrived in Manila – We were happy, Typhoon Glenda was already gone
Our flight was one day after “Glenda” hit Manila. We thought they would maybe cancel our flight because of the typhoon, as they had cancelled all the other flights the day before, but fortunately they did not. They had already cleaned up the city, only power was still missing in some parts, like there were no lights in the underpass and they used generators for the shopping malls.

On the next day we met Nino and Tonetta a friend of Nino for Dinner to plan the next days. We had traditional Philippine dishes, like oxtail soup and Sisig - delicious!! :) Afterwards we went to bar for some beers. At this bar Fabio ate a “Balut”. You wanna know what that is? Google it!! Small hint: It´s a chicken in an egg! :D

Thank you for this great night, we had a lot of fun and thanks that you BOUGHT us dinner! ;) And thanks to Tonetta, that we could leave some stuff at her flat!! :)

El Nido – Sun, beach … and a lot of rain… :D
We took the flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa, which was three hours late to begin with. From Puerto Princesa we took the minivan to El Nido for another six hours for 230 km..!! YES!!!! Six hours for 230 km, unbelievable, but unfortunately true! :D At 11.30 pm we finally arrived in El Nido and went straight to beach for a beer! The holidays can begin!!

But, unfortunately the weather was really bad, even the weather forecast said it wouldn’t change for the next week.. :( Thanks to “Henry”, the next typhoon. He brought the rain to El Nido!! So, we spent the next days with playing cards, like “Rauf Runter” and watching movies in the hotel room! Even Nino became a big fan of “Rauf Runter! :D And we spent all our money on really good food at the Artcafe!
Three days passed by and nothing had changed.. we tried to do something, but the rain would always sabotage even the smallest attempt…. Even a ten minute walk wasn’t possible!!

Boat trip – small and big lagoon
But finally the weather changed, we saw the blue sky and even the sun!!!! We couldn’t believe our eyes!!!

the sun is coming!!!
Immediately we booked a boat trip with four guys from Scotland, who we met a day before! We were so excited! :D

The trip was amazing, the lagoons were just brilliant!! We should have had lunch on the seven commander beach (our last stop). Everybody was so hungry, but in the end nobody had anything! :D But, that’s Asia, everybody knows nothing but everybody pretends he knows everything! :D The restaurant next to beach opened yet! :D

The next and last day we spent on the beach.

Back in Puerto Princesa we went to the cinema and watched “Hercules”, we can´t recommend this movie! :D

Nino met his brother and we booked a hostel for one night. We spent the evening with some guys from the hostel. We went to a local food market and afterwards we watched a movie in the hostel.
