Lao Part 2 – 7 km through the darkness: Kong Lor Cave - english version

Actually our next stop would have been Vang Vieng, but we didn’t want to spend the whole day on the bus. So we did a stopover for two days in Thakhek.

From Thakhek we did an amazing day tour to the Kong Lor Cave. A man from our hotel drove us to the cave. We started in the morning and came back in the evening. When we arrived at the cave we first had lunch. We were the only persons out there – Low Season! :D

We had to rent a boat to get through the cave - two people in each boat. The cave is around 7km long and at the highest point around 90 meter high. Only with a head torch and the small crappy boat with a few leaks we drove through the cave and back.

In the middle of the cave we stopped to walk for a while. There were a few spots in different colours so you could see the different structures of the cave – quite impressive! :)

We have never seen such a cave, that’s just amazing! Unfortunately we didn’t take any pictures during the trip through the cave it was just too dark! At some parts you couldn’t even see the highest point of the cave!
